Creating Lucky Leprechaun Gratitude Bracelets Colin Powell's Third Grade Students became jewelers with their Lucky Leprechaun Gratitude Bracelets during Saint Patrick's Day. They became familiar with measurements and patterns with their Art Teacher, Mrs. Woods. In addition, they also learned what it means to be lucky to have someone.
Enjoying Saint Patrick's Day The Colin Powell Administration, Faculty, Staff and Students celebrated St. Patrick's Day by wearing green. We also had the honor to celebrate Mrs. Franco for being recognized as the "Irish-American Woman of the Year."

Anything Goez Day This week, Colin Powell’s K-2nd Graders participated in “Anything Goez Day.” It was an exciting afternoon of games and activities for both students and the faculty. They truly enjoyed the experience.
Celebrating Read Across America On Monday, the Colin Powell School kicked off Read Across America Week. Specifically, the students in Ms. Birne’s First Grade class brought in their favorite snack to eat while reading their favorite book. It was an educational and enjoyable experience.
The Importance of Black History Month After studying different people for Black History Month, Mrs. Alvarez's Second Grade Class at Colin Powell, wrote about the most inspiring story they learned. It was a truly educational experience for them.
The Multiplication Challenge Colin Powell's Third, Fourth and Fifth Grade classes were challenged to learn their multiplication facts. The students who completed a 5 minute assessment with 100% accuracy earned a ticket to "The Hot Chocolate and Cookie Extravaganza." They were shown lots of love by the Administration and Academic Coaches for their exceptional abilities.
Celebrating 100 Days Colin Powell School celebrated the 100th day of school on February 8th with different activities. Students dressed up as if they were 100 years old, counted items to 100, and even wrote about what it would be like when they are 100 years old. Our 5th Graders even celebrated the 1000th Day of School for them.
